a very spring/summer appropriate look!

julia is a h.s. senior just a few months away from graduation and prom!  we had some fun in preparation for these milestone events to come.  i took advantage of her youth and played around with purples and pinks…when you’re young you can pull off just about anything! 🙂

with each face, i’m trying to figure out the best techniques and colors to use. some of it is intuitive, but a lot of it is also trial & error!  there’s always a few things i wish i had done differently, which i try to keep in mind for the next face.

all cute and natural

Soon to Be Mrs. Yoon

3rd time’s a charm?  i think so. Rose looks so B E A U T I F U L, just as a bride should look and feel!  imagine her in a pretty white dress…i see it, do you?

it’s cray how natural the makeup appears in pictures. it was more dramatic in person.

and look what i found, a picture of the groom!

I love these photos.

the sun lighting her face….her smile,

so beautiful.

Rebecca, au naturel

In FACES on March 10, 2010 by facesbyangie

Rebecca emphasized how she wanted to look like she wasn’t wearing any makeup at all! Today’s goal was just that, and using the minimum # of products while still achieving good results (We didn’t even use mascara!)

hehe, i love the border that is peeping out to the right. we were in her classroom.

looks like no makeup to me! yet polished and professional.

Needless to say, the pictures do not do justice, again. 😦 This was one of my favorite, if not my favorite look thus far!

Goes to show sometimes, a little goes a long way!

One of the things I love about doing makeup for women is spending time with them.  I believe that when you are passionate about something, it is God-given and He will show you ways to redeem and reroute that passion into something that is bigger and beyond your imagination.  i’m starting to see that…

on to face # 14….my next victim 😉

Rose’s makeup trial #2

In FACES on March 8, 2010 by facesbyangie

wedding makeup, or any makeup that will be photographed, is tricky.  what may appear as heavy makeup in person often times may photograph gorgeous, while on the other hand, makeup that is just right, natural and pretty may photograph poorly….as if the blushing bride is simply not wearing enough blush!

so where is the balance?  you don’t want to be caught in the two extremes of either 1) looking like a drag queen the day of your wedding for the sake of polished photos OR 2) looking gorgeous the day of your wedding but settling for pics that do not do justice to how amazing you really looked the day of!

several weeks back, i did a makeup trial for my first bride and dear friend Rose.  due to the fact that Rose does not regularly wear makeup, she was a little taken aback at how dramatic the makeup was. if you take a look at the photos, however, her makeup still looks very natural.

today, we tried a more natural look that was very pretty in person but in pictures it almost looks “too natural ” (if there is such a thing) for wedding makeup.  i think we can push a little further…any thoughts?

e.g. Rose had a good amount of blush on but you can barely see any here!

pardon the lash glue that was still drying

on a side note, Rose is such a great canvas to work on.  she has very distinct features and it’s so fun enhancing her God-given natural beauty.  I am really looking forward to her wedding. 🙂

makeup marathon

6 faces in one night!  it is extremely difficult to find the right lighting that will capture makeup on camera. the ladies were trying to manipulate the light all night, yet these pictures do not do justice to how great these women looked tonight!!

i love how jane prayed over us…a prayer that above being beautiful on the outside, God would make us more beautiful on the inside.

The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.  Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

three college freshman from Biola University.

three different looks, for three wonderfully unique faces.

I am amazed to think that no two eyes, nose, or mouth are the same!

I praise you because I am fearfully made; your works are… WONDERFUL, I know that full well.

*Thanks to my brilliant, supportive bf and faithful friend & reader, jjb for offering suggestions/solutions on ways to present my work!
